At Out of My Head, we pride ourselves on making affordable accessories with elegance and simplicity. All our offerings are handmade by me in my tiny home studio in Gardiner, Maine. Most of my work is made to the music of my two sleeping children, as I often work into the wee hours when the house is quiet and I can finally think!
My jewelry making skills are self taught and were born under the boredom of a short period of unemployment in Charleston, South Carolina. Once I was, again, employed, I found that I enjoyed it too much to stop! I soon was juried into the famous weekly Charleston Farmer's Market and found myself immensly enjoying the sharing of handwork and craft!
After a move back to our home state of Maine to start our family, I have continued to make and sell my work at area craft shows, retail shops, salons and spas. I added the handpainted clothing line when I was pregnant with my second child. I was painting matching shirts for the new baby and her big sister and was having so much fun I just kept painting! And as I come to further appreciate the amazing sewing skills shared with me by the women in my family, I find my sewing to be an ever-exciting and consuming passion! While my primary focus is, of course, on my children and family, my creative side is nurtured and my soul sustained by my late night hours spent in the studio.
With a constant eye on our own family budget, I believe in keeping my work affordable and accessible...everyone needs a treat once in a while and Out of My Head strives to make shopping easy on your budget and your conscience! We use recycled materials when ever possible and encourage charitable giving by donating 10% of our profits to organizations that support children. Namaste!
