At Out of My Head, we pride ourselves on making affordable accessories with elegance and simplicity.  All our offerings are handmade by me in my tiny home studio in Gardiner, Maine (okay...half a studio...I share the other half with my patient husband who uses his half for a music studio.  I am never surprised to find a guitar laid gently across my beading trays and he is never suprised to find beads rolling around under his feet and trays of works-in-progress balanced precariously on his keyboards...oops!)   Most of my work is made to the music of my two sleeping children as I often work into the wee hours when the house is quiet and I can think!

My jewelry making skills are self taught and were born under the boredom of a short period of unemployment in Charleston, South Carolina.  Once I was, again, employed, I found that I enjoyed it too much to stop!  I soon was juried into the famous weekly Charleston Farmer's Market and found myself selling out each weekend!  After a move back to our home state of Maine to start our family, I have continued to make and sell jewelry at area craft shows, retail shops, salons and spas.  I added the handpainted clothing line when I was pregnant with my second child.  I was painting matching shirts for the new baby and her big sister and was having so much fun I just kept painting!

While my primary focus is, of course, on my children and family, my creative side is nurtured and my soul sustained by my late night hours spent in the studio.  I believe in keeping my pieces affordable and accessible to even the most self-sacrificing woman among us...everyone needs a treat once in a while and Out of My Head strives to make indulging yourself easy on your budget and your conscience!  We use recycled materials when ever possible and encourage charitable giving by donating 10% of our profits to organizations that support children.  Namaste!
